Privacy Policy

We can see account details, in-app progress, community participation, subscription status, and support records. Personal journals and other private entries are not public. If a cloud backup exists, those copies are accessible to the app operator. These records describe activity inside the app, not your physical location or real-world climbing.
Information we can see about your account
For accounts that appear in our support tools, we can see:
- Account information: email address, account ID, and display name. Sign in with Apple may provide an Apple private-relay address instead of your actual email. We do not receive your Apple ID password. Account passwords are handled by Supabase, and those passwords are not shown in our support tools.
- Climbing progress: current virtual mountain, day on that mountain, check-in dates, streak information, total climbing days, Mountain Miles balance, peak Miles, and level.
- Cloud-backup status: whether a backup exists and when it was last updated.
- Achievements and rewards: achievement records and streak-shield totals.
- Support history: recorded check-ins, progress changes, timestamps, and administrative corrections.
- Moderation information: account restrictions, strikes, reasons, and administrative notes.
This is activity inside Motivate Mountain. It is not GPS location, physical movement, or a record of climbing a real mountain.
Personal information in cloud backups
Personal cloud backup is available with eligible Mountain Pro or Founder access. A backup can include the information below. These entries are not public and are not shown in the ordinary support view of an account. Cloud-backed copies are still accessible to the app operator through administrative database access. “Private from other users” does not mean inaccessible to us.
- Mood journal: ratings, written notes, entry dates, and timestamps.
- Gratitude journal: written entries and their dates.
- Goals: titles, categories, milestones, progress, deadlines, and completion dates.
- Tasks: titles, dates, completion status, and completion times.
- Affirmations: saved or custom text, categories, and practice progress.
- Quotes: saved references, quotes seen, reading counts, and related dates.
- Climbing history: check-ins, streaks, completed mountains, repeat conquests, and Miles.
- Rewards and appearance: achievements, seasonal progress, owned and equipped cosmetics, skins, badges, and climber customization.
- Preferences: display name, avatar, sound settings, reminder settings, themes, and community preferences.
- App-use state: last app-open date, tutorial completion, viewed update messages, redeemed codes, and completed challenges.
An existing backup can still contain information uploaded earlier, even after subscription access ends. Information that stays only on your device and has never been uploaded or shared is not available to us remotely.
Account and community records
Signed-in accounts, including free accounts, can send the following even when personal cloud backup is off. Other people see only what a feature and your sharing settings make visible. It is not all public.
- Profile, avatar, bio, selected showcase quotes, and badges.
- Leaderboard preference, progress statistics, and check-in timestamps.
- Friend requests and friendships.
- Shared Trail Moments, stories, achievements, and activity-feed content.
- Story-view records and activity reactions.
- Friend nudges and delivery-related records.
- Roped Together invitations, partners, daily participation, and results.
- Summit Club participation, poll choices, recommendation completions, and reward claims.
- Seasonal-event activity, quote-read records, Treat-or-Trick choices, contributions, points, and claimed rewards.
- Blocked accounts, community reports, and report explanations.
- A push-notification token if you allow notifications, and an app-generated device identifier used to handle those notifications. You can turn notifications off in iOS Settings.
Purchases
Apple processes payments. Through RevenueCat and Apple’s purchase tools we can see subscription and purchase information such as customer identifiers, products purchased, entitlement status, and purchase, renewal, and expiration details. We do not receive your full payment-card number or bank-account details through the App Store purchase flow.
Information the app does not collect
The current app does not collect or upload:
- GPS location or physical movement
- Contacts or address books
- Microphone recordings or camera feeds
- Your entire photo library
- Text messages, emails, or browsing activity outside the app
Guest use
Using the app without an account is primarily on your device. Online requests and the subscription tools can still involve technical information or anonymous identifiers.
Website contact messages
If you use the contact form on this website, we store the name, email address, topic, message, and any optional app or device details you include so we can reply. We also store a one-way hash of the network address used to submit the form, to limit abuse. These messages are not published.
How we use information
- To run the daily climb, progress, journaling, and related features
- To recognize your account and restore Mountain Pro or Founder access
- To operate community features and handle safety reports
- To answer support requests and correct account records
- To keep the service secure and limit abuse
Service providers
Apple handles Sign in with Apple, App Store purchases, and push delivery. RevenueCat handles subscription entitlement. Supabase handles account authentication. Hosting and notification providers may also process network and device information and diagnostic logs. We do not control every log or backup those providers keep, or how long they keep it.
Storage and security
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards for the kind of information we hold. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
Retention and deletion
We keep account and server-held information while it is needed to provide the service, meet legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. Deleting your account in the app removes application account data and cloud backups, and redacts account-linked audit information. It does not instantly erase every copy a provider may keep in its own backups, and it does not delete Apple purchase records. Manage or cancel a subscription in your Apple Account settings. See account deletion.
Your choices
- You can use many personal features without creating an account.
- You can export a JSON backup of supported personal progress from the app.
- You can delete your account in Settings. See account deletion.
- You can turn off notifications in iOS Settings.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights to access, correct, or delete personal information. Contact us using the details below.
Children’s privacy
Motivate Mountain is intended for adults and is not directed at children under 13. Do not create an account for a child under 13. Use of the App Store is also subject to Apple’s age requirements.
International users
If you use the app from outside the country where our systems are located, your information may be processed in other countries with different data-protection rules.

We may update this policy. The “Last updated” date at the top changes when we do. Review the new version when it changes.
